IMVU Account Hacked
The only way anyone can hack you is if you give out your password. People, passwords are a lot like sex. You get all the pain from giving it away and no pleasure. Or something like that. Anyway, most of the time when your account gets hacked, it’s someone you know. And it’s understandable. You thought you could trust them. They seemed like good people. But unfortunately, they were bad evil people who could not be trusted. So yes, having your account hacked is a hard lesson to learn. But don’t feel too bad. It’s happened to us too, and we’re here to help you.
We can help you get your account back and give you some tips to avoid getting hacked on IMVU.
- NEVER give out your password.
- Create a UNIQUE and “hard-to-guess” password.
- REPORT players who ask for your password or personal information. These players are bad.
- BLOCK players who are threatening or continue to hassle you. Once you threaten to block them, they usually stop.
If, at any time, you think your IMVU account has been compromised, the first thing you should do is reset all your account passwords. This can be done from via the main page at: http://www.IMVU.com/. Be sure to select account passwords that will be easy for you remember, but hard for someone else to guess.
WHAT TO DO WHEN IMVU ACCOUNT IS HACKED/SCAMMED
Firstly, do not panic. Gather any information you can to prove ownership of your account. Some of the information that may help the staff in identifying your account is as following:
a. A scanned copy of your credit card with everything blacked out except the last four digit on the card. Example:
|XXXX – XXXX – XXXX – 1234|
b. The email used to first register your account.
c. Date of birth used to register your account.
d. Name used to register your account.
You need to send this information to an IMVU Customer Care Representative. You can do so by visiting the Help Center. Note that you do NOT need to create a new account to do so. You can create an IMVU Temporary Log-in for emergency cases like this.
How Do I Submit a Help Ticket?
1. Once you have created a temporary login, visit the Help Centre
2. Next click on “Submit a Case”
3. File a ticket under General Support > Account Hacked
4. It is important to get straight to the point and include only relevant information.
Helpful format to file a ticket in case you lost your account:
My avatar name [Insert name here] was hacked/scammed on [Insert date here]. Below are information proving that the account is legitimately mine:
Last 4 digit of credit card : XXXX – XXXX – XXXX – 1234
Email used to register the avatar : [Insert email here] Date of birth : [Insert date here] Name : [Insert full name used to register account here]
Please would you return the said account as it was hacked/scammed. I will change my password to a stronger one.
5. The next step is to attach the scanned copy of your credit card. Simply click on the button “Attach” and then click “Browse” and look for the scanned file.
What can I do if I dont have a scanner? Not to worry, any means of capturing an image of the credit card into a digital form (to be sent into help ticket) is acceptable. This means you can use a scanner, digital camera or even phone camera. Dont forget to black out everything on your credit card except the last 4 digits.
(Note that IMVU does not work on weekends)
The next step is to patiently wait for your ticket to be looked into.
